Who’s in charge of the big picture?

When life takes a left turn – and time and knowledge are in short supply – who’s in charge of your big picture? A case study in what it looks like to be a member of the Wambolt family.

By Cindy Alvarez

You can turn to us when life takes a left turn. It could be an exciting turn – a marriage, a new baby, a job relocation. Or a devastating turn, a job loss, a divorce, a death.

Any number of life events require each of us to pause, reassess our priorities and adjust the direction of our financial future. When that hard left happens, two critical resources, time and knowledge, are often in short supply. That’s when you can lean on your Wambolt family.

We want you to know what it looks like to be a member of our family. A gentleman reached out to Wambolt & Associates in the last week of his life with a number of financial priorities and survivor obligations in mind. He had no will or estate plan. There were no documents reflecting his wishes, no living trust, no power of attorney (POA).

The client was facing end of life decisions and needed help moving quickly to put his affairs in order, create a will, put assets in an estate and sign over power of attorney. Within the week, the client passed away and our work started anew on behalf of the trustee of the estate, who had the weighty legal responsibility of ensuring the deceased wishes were carried out and little knowledge of how to get it done.

We helped wade through will bequests, bank statements, birth and death certificates, brokerage statements, insurance policies, real estate deeds, property tax records, social security records, and financial documents so bills could be paid, taxes filed and benefits redirected.

Families in transition

We’d like to say this situation is unusual, but it’s not. Every family sees relationships and dynamics change when events happen. As a registered independent advisor, we are privileged to work with our clients through thick and thin, and we are fortunate to be able to manage best-interests when our clients need it most.

Working with families in transition is part of our routine. We know how estates work and financial futures are altered when a life event like this happens. And, we are there to rally a support team that clears a new path, reconfiguring the financial pieces to see that life and legacy goals are realized and competing financial, familial, and time frames are addressed.

This is what it looks like to be a member of the Wambolt family. We want each of our clients to feel empowered to make the right financial decisions at critical moments in life. And, we are fortunate to have the tools and resources to offer advice when clients need it most.

Taking charge of the big picture

Countless times over the years, we at Wambolt & Associates have been asked to step in and take charge of the big picture. A single phone call puts the Wambolt team in action, providing day-to-day reassurance and guidance as life-changing events unfold.

No matter what type of financial, legal or tax help you may need, our team will work hard to answer your questions and ease the transition. Become a member of the Wambolt family and let us help chart your financial future.
